Aoife's Stronglife Story

Today is Aoife’s Stronglife Story about how she has transformed herself by following our training and nutrition programmes.

Over the last 3 months she has quickly became a superstar here in the gym with some rapid progress.

Not only has she been one of the nicest people to have ever came into the gym but she has achieved some brilliant results in here short time here.

“To say I had a fear of the gym before joining StrongLife would be a major understatement. I had never even set foot in a proper gym, opting instead for fitness classes like spinning and zumba whenever I felt like it (which was rarely). And I was by no means someone who would push myself – I liked fitness classes because they gave me an excuse to hide in the back row, trying my hardest not to break a sweat. So there was no wonder I wasn’t feeling fitter or looking better.

I was admittedly very nervous about joining StrongLife, so nervous that I put it off for a full six months. Worst mistake ever.

My fears ranged from looking stupid to actually strangling myself with some scary-looking equipment. However, as soon as I got stuck in, I realised I had been an idiot for putting it off for so long.

I was a little self-conscious at first, but after a couple of minutes I realised that everyone was too busy doing their own thing to take much notice of the girl with the tiny dumbbells. And after a few sessions, I was actually starting to feel comfortable, and enjoyed the banter and the friendly atmosphere in the gym.

But the most shocking realisation of all was that I was actually enjoying the exercise as much as the craic.

The programme that Colm put together for me was perfect, because I didn’t have to worry about hurting myself. I was shown exactly what to do and the programme was tailored to my specific needs. I was able to start with light weights and work my way up, and before I knew it, I was lifting heavier than I ever thought I could.

It’s amazing to be motivated by my own progress, seeing myself lifting heavier every week was the best reward ever.

Since joining StrongLife I look better, I have more energy and I feel so much better too. I’ll be gutted to leave, but I don’t think I’ll ever be able to go back to my old ways having learned about resistance training and nutrition.

Don’t be like me and put it off, because I honestly think my three months there have completely changed how I think about food and exercise, and my only regret is not having started sooner!”

In the short time we had her here in StrongLife (just over 11 weeks), Aoife has done fantastic – dropping 4.2kg (over 9lbs) and has shrunk by over 10 inches overall. 

It has been amazing to watch her progress over the last while and she will be sorely missed as she heads off travelling before heading back to college in September!
