What I Wish Was Different About Health And Fitness

Today I want to write a bit about a recurring theme I see among the Health and Fitness scene and how I wish it was different.

The more clients I work with, the more and more I get the same issue.

They’ve been bombarded with conflicting information and they’re now at the point where they are so confused and no longer know what to do.

Every Tom, Dick and Harry can give you advice on what you should be eating/not eating and what you need to do in the gym.

Thanks to the internet, we all have “experts” at the office lunch table preaching to you about how to do it right.

(If there’s a quicker way to becoming an assh*le, it’s becoming a know-it-all).

Every week you’re led to believe that Paleo, Low Fat, High Fat, Low Carb, Detoxes, Dairy free, Gluten free, eat nothing but lettuce diets are the only way to lose weight.

So what do I wish was different?

I honestly wish that we can all stop forcing our opinions upon everyone.

We need to stop preaching that “X” way of doing things is THE only way.

Every diet has it’s merits.

Every training style has benefits.

When it comes to dieting, ALL diets will work to a point.

Whether they deliver optimal results and provide adequate health benefits is something to work on.

ALL training programs will give results once followed.

Just because a certain Diet or Training style workout for you, does not mean it is the ONLY way to do it.

Let’s step back from preaching and forcing our opinions on one another.

Instead, let’s supply everyone with high quality information, guidelines and advice.

Let’s inform and educate them to the best of our abilities and lead them to better informed decisions.

Every single person is an individual, we need to empower them to make correct choices based on themselves, not on others.

Simply put, let’s educate them so they can develop a better understanding of training and nutrition so they can develop their own unique way of eating/training that benefits themselves.

At the end of the day, everyone is an adult.

I prefer to allow them make their own conclusions and decisions.

When asked I will provide education and information to aid them in the process.

That way, we can all be in a position to make the best possible choices through a better understanding.

P.s. This is for everyone. Unless someone asks for your opinion, they probably don’t want it.
