The StrongLife Experience – Sharon’s First Day
So on Wednesday, Sharon had her first PT session here in StrongLife.
And one thing that took me back was how impressed she was of the overall experience.
Here’s what Sharon had to say about StrongLife:
“Hi Colm, just wanted to say thank you for Wednesday’s PT session.
I’ve been trying to get my motivation back for a long time and have tried a few difference gym’s lately.
Unfortunately, I’ve found the atmosphere in other gyms really intimidating and unwelcoming and that’s a huge part of the reason I’d fallen off the fitness wagon lately.
I felt so anxious about actually even going into that environment that I just decided to stay at home on numerous occasions.
From the moment I entered into your gym I experienced the exact opposite.
I loved the relaxed, informal atmosphere that you created.
The other gym goers were really chatty and welcoming and seemed to really support each other.
So again, thanks a million.
I’m really looking forward to getting back on track with your support.”
One thing I do sometimes forget because I own a gym is the feeling of walking in for your first time.
I remember days I drove to Dublin for PT sessions and thought about leaving when I was parked outside.
It can be a scary time building the courage before walking in the door the first time.
I actually know some really confident people who after time admitted they were terrified going into gyms.
See, it’s a whole other world.
One that you may not have a clue what you’re going to be like.
Will I faint after 3 situps?
How red is my face going to go atfer 5 minutes?
Am I even able for this at all?
Oh dear god my legs are on fire and that’s only the warmup!!!!!
So to get such nice words from new clients really makes me happy.
Because at the end of the day, I’ve built this place (not the building, it’d look like Homer Simpson’s Spice rack if I attempted manual labour).
And it’s always so good to know this place makes people comfortable, relaxed and is a place they can enjoy becoming involved in.
On a quick side note – I did have to tell 2 clients to behave themselves in front of the new girl. Can’t be up to them I tell ya!
So, have you felt like Sharon at all?
If you have, don’t be afraid.
Everyone has fears when starting in a gym.
But it’s never as bad as you think.
Don’t be afraid to give it a go!
