Sometimes You Just Have To Say “Feck It” And Just Go Do It

feck

Today has been the day that I finally said “feck it” and just done it.

What am I on about?

Well the last 2 weeks, I’ve been having a major crisis because I’m turning 30 soon.

I talked myself out of buying a house, because sure we’re all meant to own houses by 30 aren’t we?

Last week, I pulled the plug on buying a new car even though I’d have loved it.

Why?

Well I was really only going to buy it to impress people and have people think “oh he’s doing well for himself”.

In reality, I’d be bored of it in 3 months and still have over 3 years repayments to make.

(yeah, all those cars that are really impressive we don’t actually own, it’s all debt)

So instead of just burying myself into stuff that “society” approves of, I’ve gone and done something I really want.

Instead of buying material items I want to go and see the world.

So come August, I’m heading off to South America to travel from Buenos Aires up to Rio de Janeiro.

I don’t know what it is, but I’ve always had a mad notion to go see Brazil so I’m as excited as a puppy seeing it’s owner coming home.

Not only that, but I’m actually going travelling solo.

Turning 30 (soon) is the big kick up the arse that I needed because I’ve kinda coasted through my 20’s just dreaming of all the stuff I want to do but never actually doing it.

It’s very easy to take the back seat.

But here’s the reality.

No one else is going to live your life for you.

You’ll never see the world unless you get up and do it.

I’d rather spend every cent I have and live a life rather than sit on a bank account and do nothing.

I’ve lived in fear of spending money.

But as I get a bit older, I’m realising that I’m more fearful of going through life without doing the stuff I want to.

I just wish I said “feck it” and done this years ago but sure I’m making a move now.

I’ll leave you with this quote from Dave Ramsey:

“We buy things we don’t need with money we don’t have to impress people we don’t like.”

Have a great Bank Holiday weekend!

Colm.

When you go travelling you realise, even more, how much you don’t need stuff. Stuff is way over rated.
Brazil is a beautiful place. Rio de Janeiro is amazing you will love it.

Rio looks amazing, just wish I didn’t have to wait to go.
