“I came across StrongLife while scrolling through Facebook just after Christmas and I took a look at some of the clients Colm had got back into exercising and healthy eating.

“I lost a good bit of weight between Stronglife Gym and Slimming World, but I hit the dreaded plateau about a year and a half ago.

 I was in Colm’s gym gaining strength and shape but the pounds weren’t shifting as fast anymore.

Fast forward to December 2020 and I went hell for leather into hibernation mode, in preparation for the latest lockdown - eating out, drinks, takeaways all month, on top of the normal Christmas debauchery.

As I struggled to get into my work trousers in January I was eager to start into the first 6 weeks challenge.

In the first 6 weeks, I lost 13.5 pounds, and then I lost another 7.5 pounds during the second 6 weeks challenge.

21 pounds lost in total and smaller work trousers needed!!

I haven’t been this size since I was in school (and that’s not today or yesterday).

You don’t need to be a gym bunny or fitness fanatic to sign up, the exercises have to be done but each to their own ability, and as the weeks go by you will find the exercises may become easier, or you can do more reps before feeling the burn.

 The best part of the challenges for me is the accountability.

Sure I could just exercise on my own and do workouts from Youtube etc, but the daily check-ins in the group and weekly weigh-ins with Colm help to keep me on track.

“I know some may look at this and think why on earth would she need to lose weight?

But I was stuck in a routine of comfort eating and not being active. And just over a year ago, I was on the opposite side of the coin. 

I was underweight, obsessed with calories, felt under pressure to be “skinny” and had a poor relationship with food.

So bad that I ended up in the HDU in hospital as a result of not eating. I went from one extreme to another.

And a year on from that I found myself stuck in a sluggish routine that involved overeating (lots of takeaways & bad choices of food) along with zero exercise, and poor sleeping habits.

“I had made every effort to lose weight after the birth of my baby at the end of 2020.

Initially, I had some success but ended up needing to have surgery over the summer.
